Effect of slope geometry on stability of slope in Almaty

Landslides bring destruction to buildings, and nearby located structures mostly occur in rural areas. Such hazard commonly takes place mountainous areas Central Asia. Kazakhstan region has highly vulnerable rainfall-induced landslides South-Eastern parts due presence of many mountains. The purpose the research is demonstrate effect slope geometry on stabilityunder heavy rainfall Almaty, Kazakhstan. Transient seepage analyses were conducted using Seep/W while limit equilibrium stability performed Slope/W. 15 sets numerical carried out different angle height incorporating soil-water characteristic curve unsaturated permeability shear strength soil from Almaty. According obtained simulation results GeoStudio software for analysis, pore-water pressure increased almost 80 kPa at mid each simulation. change FoS gentlest with 27 degrees lowest 10 m highest 30 height, whereas 45 (9%) same all height.
